About

Lisa Parsons is a Portland based artist, photographer, and writer.

My current project revolves around the connection between art and science. The ‘Entanglement Series,’ which I am focused on now involves abstract, mixed media works on paper which are cosmic spins on color, movement, and rhythmic references to sound, light, and space.

New for me is my Etsy site with pet portraits.  Inspired by my love of my chihuahua mix Giorgio, I have begun a new group of works and am taking custom orders now on my Etsy site GiorgioModerne.  This is a good thing to start looking at now for orders for artworks of your pets for the upcoming holidays. Please contact me to get on my email list for an upcoming holiday email about this.

I also have a new series of small works relating to the demolition  of the old and construction of the new Sellwood Bridge in Portland, Oregon.  These works are mixed media constructions making use of parts of the old bridge such as rubble and rebar.   Four of my artworks from this series were in an art exhibition during August 2016 at the Blue Kangaroo Coffee Roasters in the Sellwood area of SE Portland, Oregon.  I also won Second Place in the Adult category in the art contest related to this exhibition. Information about this award and contest are on RumpusEvents.com

I have studied art and design in Portland and lived in New York for several years where I attended New York University receiving a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and a New York State Certificate in Museum Studies. I was influenced by the work of the late Isamu Noguchi while doing an internship at his museum in Long Island City, New York.  Modern art has been a focus of my research and I also did an internship at MOMA, New York.

I continue to be passionate about writing and photography and have won awards locally and nationally.

I am on Etsy at PoliticoColore and my new pet art site GiorgioModerne, and at the design site Houzz at PoliticoColore as well
